In the summer of 2015 Choclo Project travelled to Mexico with a clear goal : to use art to transform the lives of the children at Misión México. By nourishing their creative skills, teaching them new artistic techniques and giving value to their work we were able to present art as a means to improving their situation, by providing them with an education. Aside from building their confidence and self-esteem through art we encouraged their creativity and self-expression through surfing and yoga. These activities are not only vital in teaching them life skills but also improving their health and well-being. During these sessions they were able to forget their past and simply enjoy the moment.
Choclo Project was born from a simple but powerful idea: to use art as a way to transform the lives of underprivileged children in South America. Our team ran on-site workshops that encouraged and nurtured the children’s creative skills, giving them the tools and confidence to express themselves through art. We then turned their drawings into vibrant graphics and integrated them into a range of activewear products.
Every step of the process was designed with the customer experience in mind — from the products themselves to the storytelling behind them. Customers could see the real-world impact of their purchase: supporting the education of children while enjoying gear that enhanced their own active and healthy lifestyle. The Choclo Project demonstrated that creativity has value, and that thoughtful design can connect people, purpose, and play in meaningful ways.
